Medicinal Cannabis

We are very fortunate to have Dr Bryce and Dr Wilson approved by the TGA to prescribe Medical Cannabis to suitable candidates. They are both currently accepting new patients.

There are strict guidelines for approval, but if you’d like a discussion around this option please book a consult.

Dr Bryce

What do I have to bring to my initial consultation?

You will need to bring:

  • A full medication history listing previous & current medications for your condition.
  • If you have a current Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM) or a Mental Health Care Plan please bring this too.
  • Imaging reports or specialist letters from your Allied Health provider.

How much will the medication cost, and is it included in the Consultation Fee?

No, it is not included in your Consultation Fee. Like any other prescription, only the Pharmacy can provide and dispense this medication.

Will I get the script at my initial consultation?

As Dr Bryce and Dr Wilson are authorised prescribers, they can provide you with a script during your first Medicinal Cannabis consult, if you meet the criteria and have the required supporting documentation. If more info is required, we will arrange a follow-up appointment to complete approvals and scripts.

During your initial consultation, your doctor will get as much of your medical information as possible.

Where do I get my script from?

Your doctor will advise you on the Pharmacy to fill your prescription during your consultation.

Can I get my script from the Pharmacy on the day I get approved?

Yes.

How much will I get a week?

Every patient, condition & dosage is different. Your doctor will explain the dosage with you in your consultation and advise you how much to use per day/week.

I have already been approved from another clinic, can I just see one of your doctors for a new script?

No. This is a regulated medication. You will still need to book an Initial Consultation with our doctors, as well as bring all appropriate paperwork with you.

Driving while being treated with MC therapy

It is illegal to drive while under the influence of THC. Dr Bryce or Dr Wilson will discuss your medication and driving, during the consult with you.

How much do the consultations cost?

If you don’t have the above, and/or if you’re not sure Medicinal Cannabis is right for you, book a standard consult to discuss – 20 min if you’re a new patient and existing 10 min if you’re an existing patient at MedCentres (These consults are Privately billed – no concessions / exemptions apply)

If you have the above, and you’ve already discussed Medicinal Cannabis with Dr Bryce or Dr Wilson, book your Initial Medicinal Cannabis Consultation – is for approximately 30 minutes. The cost is $200.00. If you have a current Australian Medicare Card you may be entitled to a rebate of $75.75

All follow-up appointments are approximately $75 or $110, depending on the length required for consultation. You may be entitled to a rebate.

All Medicinal Cannabis consults require a $30 non-refundable upfront payment, which will be deducted from the consult fee.

If you are a Gold Card DVA Cardholder, the doctor can apply to DVA for full cost of the medicinal cannabis.
